Overview
Grameenphone – a joint venture between Telenor - the largest telecom service provider in Norway and Grameen Telecom Corporation - a non-profit sister concern of the internationally acclaimed micro-credit pioneer Grameen Bank. Over a decade ago, Grameenphone emerged as a leading telecom service provider in Bangladesh. They have offered their services to a large fraction of rural Bangladesh. Today, they are creating new opportunities for teleconnectivity even in Bangladesh’s remotest villages.
Process Deployed
Grameenphone chose to use clean, green solar energy to power their base station at Shylet. This is a remote rural location, accessible only by a four hour boat ride. Our team successfully designed, engineered, met the logical challenges and safely installed and commissioned a 8.2 kWp Solar-DG Hybrid System. The system comprises of a solar module capacity of 8.2 kWp, telescopic module mounting structures, solar charge controller of 48V 100A, lighting arrestor and an earthing kit. The system is designed for online consumption of the solar power generated. The generated solar power is utilized to provide power to the base station.
Impact of Solution
Solar Power Hybrid System has helped Grameenphone to overcome the electricity supply problem, with un-interrupted power supply to the base station.
