Overview
Chattisgarh is one of India's most backward states. Apart from suffering from government negligence, the state is also dotted with dense forests and mountainous landscape, making it extremely difficult for development. The situation was so stark, that the government was on the verge of abandoning its electrification. Tata BP Solar and CREDA joined forces to change the lifestyle of the tribals in the region. The project aimed at electrifying villages using solar power plants.
Impact of Solution
The Tata BP team overcame every challenge that came their way and successfully electrified over 400 villages in one of Chattisgarh’s remotest regions. This project empowered more than 100,000 people in the tribal state and illuminating thousands of households.
