This corridor system makes the front and back of the equipment easily accessible for installation and maintenance. The equipment in a datacenter vary in height from 1U (1.75 inches) to large free-standing servers or storage cabinets that occupy part of a row, while the height of racks may go up to 2 meters (or 42 U). Racks in datacenters are usually floor standing or sometime mounted on walls.
